Wiener Netze / Vienna Networks: Start of Production with ArcFM UT in the Branch Electricity

Vienna, Munich, February 2016- The Wiener Netze have started in January 2016 the production with the software ArcFM UT of AED-SICAD in the electricity branch. Thus the Wiener Netze now work on 40 multi-utility editor seats not only on electricity data but also on gas data. In the future also the branch district heating will be migrated towards ArcFM UT. Besides the as-built maps, also the extensive overview maps have been migrated to ArcFM UT. The overview maps are used among other things also for the switching operations in the electricity network. In the future, it will be updated nearly fully automatically using the software module ArcFM UT Generalization to incorporate network changes. The UT Integrator continues to play an important role for the integration of the technical asset information from the GIS with the financial and maintenance information of the SAP PM system. Here, the UT integrator is used within the front - but also within the backend. For the information dissemination the Wiener Netze rely within their company on WebOffice and on an ArcGIS mobile-based offline solution from AED-SICAD business partner SynerGIS.

More than 900 professionals will gather in Denver next week for the biggest LiDAR event in North America

Smart mapping app improves community services in Penang

Feb 18, 2016 - An advanced smart mapping application called e-Peta has given decision-makers at the State of Penang to tech-savvy way of improving services to the community.

Developed in 2014 by the Penang Geographic Information System Centre (PEGIS), e-Peta uses advanced technology from leading geospatial solutions provider location Esri Malaysia to integrate data from various government departments and display the layers on a dynamic smart map.

The application provides actionable information on areas such as land use, business and services, traffic and public transportation - helping decision-makers efficiently chemical resources to the right place at the right time, and effectively support existing social development projects.

"Since its inception, a wide range of government departments, including the Town Planning & Development Department, Penang Island City Council and Seberang Perai Municipal Council, have been using e-Peta and GIS to design sustainable structural layouts in the city and improve accountability and efficiency in the state government," says PEGIS coordinator Mr Abdul Azhar Bin Ibrahim.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., Feb. 18, 2016 - (PRNewswire) - The tragic electrocutions this week of two dogs, one while walking on a public sidewalk in a Chicago suburb and the other in Washington, D.C., represent the most extreme examples of what can happen when electrical faults, called contact voltage, are not actively look for or are ignored.
